How To Stop Your Seasonal Allergies Once & For All
by Aga Postawska, Holistic Health Coach on May 20th 2017
Don’t you just love the smell of spring in the air?

The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming and you are…. sneezing.

Puffed eyed and sniffly, for many of us spring is a love-hate relationship. Winter is finally over but now the season of hay fever and antihistamine allergy medication begins.

I used to suffer from chronic seasonal allergies, living off of medications like Claritin and Allegra, which only treated the symptoms of my allergies, but never addressed the actual root cause.

Basically if you don't have any of these medications handy you’re screwed, left to drown in your own snot or pass out from exhaustion after sneezing 38 times in a row.

But did you know that seasonal allergies and hay fever are avoidable and totally reversible?

That’s right, you don’t have to suffer! With a little extra tender love and care for your gut and you’ll be frolicking amongst the cottonwood trees and pollen in no time.

What Exactly Is An Allergy?
An allergy is an inflammatory stress response initiated by your immune system.

When you come into contact with something you are allergic to your body sends out antibodies to protect you. Even though this allergen is harmless, like dust or pollen, your body views it as a serious threat. It uses inflammation to protect you.

During this response your body produces histamines, this is what causes the inflammation and typical symptoms of an allergy attack: watery puffy eyes, sniffly nose, sneezing…

Antihistamine drugs can help temporarily alleviate these symptoms freeing you from your isolating sneezy, puffy, blurring, allergy bubble. But before your reach for your favorite antihistamine drug, try this.

Salt. Unprocessed, non-iodized salt. It is a strong natural antihistamine.

Sea salt or Himalayan rock salt will often do the trick.  Just place couple large salt crystals under the tongue and let them melt. Follow with a nice big glass of water.

This is an old trick described by Dr. Batmanghelidg, author of, "Your Body's Many Cries for Water."

What About The Root Cause?
Okay so now that you have a natural remedy for the alleviation of uncomfortable allergy symptoms on hand, lets address the root cause to stop this chaos from erupting once and for all.

Dr. Bill Frankland, the “Grandfather of Allergy,” is Britain’s oldest physician. Today he is 105 years old! Long ago, he discovered that an allergic reaction is due to a malfunctioning immune system.

And where is your immune system?

The headquarters lies in your gut!

Up to 80% of your immune system is in your intestines made up of the gut lining and the microbes that inhabit that lining.

Your gut lining plays the role of the grand fortress walls, serving as an immediate barrier between you and the dangers of the outside world, and your beneficial bacteria that live on the gut lining are your solders that fight in battle against intruders on a daily basis.

So if your immune system is acting up (confusing harmless pollen as a serious threat for example) your gut is definitely involved in this miscommunication.

The first step to healing allergies is healing and sealing a leaky gut.

And since Candida can be the sneaky culprit causing the leaky-ness of your gut (and also leaky gut can cause a Candida infection) it is wise to eliminate Candida fungus from your body to truly heal your gut.

Patty Explains How Candida Causes Leaky Gut, Allergies, & Immune System Disfunction
Step 1: Cleanse Candida
Along with our Candida Cleanser here are 6 Tips To Start Healing Candida Naturally.

Countless of people, including myself and our team leader Patty, have experienced the total disappearance of seasonal allergies after eliminating Candida.

Hay fever, puffy eyes, sneeze attacks, waking up with your eyes crusted shut...

For myself and hundreds of others this was simply a symptom of Candida. Once you rid your body of the invading fungus and heal your gut, this all disappears - I promise!

Step 2: Drink Bone Broth

Your next action step is bone broth. Drink at least 3 cups everyday.

The collagen, gelatine, l-glutamine, glycine, +dozens of other healing minerals and amino acids are exactly what the doctor order to heal an inflamed and leaky gut.

Once you patch up the holes in your leaky gut you will be

preventing toxins from leaking into and contaminating your bloodstream which reduces inflammation throughout your body calming and fine tuning your immune responses.

Simply put, when you reduce inflammation in the gut, you can reduce inflammation in your sinuses.

No more sneezing and no more sniffling.

Step 3: Eat Fermented Foods
Your good gut bacteria not only fight the good fight with you protecting you from invading pathogens, but much like a lieutenant in battle your gut bacteria train your immune system how to properly identify a threat.

This means that your gut bacteria can directly communicate with your immune system and mitigate needless reactions, “Hey, see this? Don’t worry about it, it’s just pollen. But see that virus over there.. go get it!”

Beneficial bacteria play a major immune-modulating role as they are involved in the production and function of healthy lymphocytes, immuneoglobins, interferons, cytokines, neutrophils, macrophages, and much more.

If your gut ecology has gone to shambles the core of your immune system is also falling apart.

People with autoimmune conditions (hay fever and allergies included) have shown to have abnormal gut bacteria (gut dysbiosis) so naturally one of the first steps to charging up your immune system is by evicting  pathogenic invaders like Candida and repopulating with good gut bacteria.

5 Tips For Healing & Preventing Allergies

1. Stop eating sugar and gluten containing foods.
It doesn't matter if you have celiac disease or not, no one escapes the inflammatory damage done by gluten, it’s like eating fibre glass that tears away at your gut lining allowing pathogens and toxins to contaminate your blood to then cause wide spread inflammation triggering an immune stress response. Just don't do it.

2. Avoid conventional pasteurized dairy.
Not many people can stomach this unrecognizable cocktail without triggering an inflammatory stress response. Instead make homemade kefir from (preferably raw) organic milk or avoid dairy altogether and make kefir with coconut milk. Kefir is alive and packed with (30+) beneficial microbes that help rebuild your gut flora and boost your immune system.

3. Try slippery elm or marshmallow root.
These healing herbs contain mucilage, a substance that coats and soothes the entire gastrointestinal tract and stimulates the gut to increase healthy mucus production. This creates a protective coating that soothes inflammation, eases digestion, and as a result helps mitigate allergy symptoms.

4. Make sure you're getting your Vitamin C
Whenever there is an immune stress response in the body the adrenal glands get overworked and exhausted. Vitamin C helps to support and heal our adrenals so much so that it is often a main nutrient prescribed to heal from adrenal fatigue and burnout. During an allergy response your adrenals burn through Vitamin C.

Obtaining your Vitamin C from whole food sources, like the camu camu berry, is recommended rather than getting it from lab produced supplements, like ascorbic acid (which is usually derived from GMO corn). This synthetic version simply doesn't support your body in the way the real thing does.

One of the best ways to get Vitamin C in your diet is with sauerkraut. One cabbage actually has loads more vitamin C in it than an entire basket of oranges, especially when cultured. All the more reason to stock up on fermented foods which are chock full of vitamins, enzymes, and beneficial bacteria that support your gut microbiome and prime your immune system- all of which adds up to the total reversal of your allergies.

5. A few other gut-healing compounds & natural anti-histamines
If you aren't drinking bone broth supplementing with l-glutamine can help provide that immediate fuel needed by your gut lining cells to heal and repair while providing a protective anti-inflammatory coating.

Quercetin is a natural anti-histamine abundantly found in citrus, parsley and kale. It also has gut healing properties by supporting the creation of the proteins which maintain tight junctions (the 'gates' between your intestinal cells that become loose due to leaky gut).

To maximize on both Vitamin C and Quercetin try making sauerkraut with cabbage, kale, lemon juice, and parsley. And if you still don’t get enough dietary Quercetin, you can take 1200-1600mg per day, divided between 3 separate doses taken with meals.

Nettles have shown to reduce symptoms of allergies. Try drinking nettle tea or stir frying them up with your next meal. Don't worry the 'sting' is deactivated when cooked and heated.

Make sure you are getting a daily dose of Fish Oil, for the EPA and DHA, Cod liver Oil for Vitamin D and A, and Zinc (found in organ meats like liver, and oysters). These nutrients are absolutely essential for healing your gut and needed in abundance by the body to support a healthy immune system.

Ultimately our lifestyle and what food we decide to put on our plate are the root cause of our unhappiness and many of our health complications. With some extra awareness and attention, learning how to properly care for and fuel your bodies, you can create pivotal effects to the quality of your life- this includes the freedom from seasonal allergies!

Here's to a sneeze-less spring season!
